Publication of scientific results in peer-reviewed literature is a key measure of scientific contributions of both scientists and the institutions that they are associated with. An analysis of the affiliations of authors of articles indexed by pubmed found that the links between academic institutions and the biotech/pharma industry varies widely. Remarkably, at some leading academic institutions, over 5% and up to 10% of articles have authors that are affiliated with the biotech industry.
